If you are new to paragliding, Bir Billing can feel like a big adventure before you even reach the take-off site. A tandem flight means you fly with a qualified pilot who manages the glider and flight decisions. You still need to listen carefully, follow instructions and understand that the activity depends on suitable conditions.
Before the flight
Ask who will operate the flight, where you should meet, how you will travel to the take-off point, what is included in the quoted price, and what happens if weather prevents flying. Share any relevant health, mobility or weight information honestly with the operator so they can assess suitability. Do not assume every person or every day is suitable.
What should you wear?
Wear secure, closed-toe shoes with good grip and comfortable clothing that allows you to move. Conditions can feel colder and windier at altitude than they do in the village. Follow the operator’s equipment and clothing instructions, and secure loose items before launch.
At take-off
Your pilot should explain the launch sequence and tell you exactly what to do. Listen to the briefing, keep your attention on the instructions, and do not run, sit or change position unless directed. If you are confused or uncomfortable, speak up before the launch begins.
In the air
The view may be peaceful, exhilarating or a mix of both. Flight duration varies with weather, the flight selected and operational decisions; do not rely on a fixed duration advertised elsewhere. Avoid distracting the pilot or touching lines and equipment. Ask in advance whether photos or video are offered and how they are handled.
Landing and aftercare
Follow the pilot’s landing instructions, including when to raise your legs or move. After landing, check that you have all your belongings and know where to meet your transport or group. If the flight is postponed or shortened, refer to the terms agreed before booking.
Questions to ask before booking
- Is the pilot and operator currently registered or authorised under applicable local requirements?
- What safety briefing and equipment checks are provided?
- What are the cancellation, rescheduling and refund terms?
- What is included in the price, including transport and media?
- What conditions would cause the pilot to cancel?
A good first flight starts with clear information and a willingness to follow safety decisions. If conditions are not suitable, postponing is the right outcome—not a failure of your trip.
